Simhamukha (Tib. Sengdongma) is a wrathful female deity recognized as an important yidam by the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. A wisdom dakini of the highest rank, she is revered for her power to transform demonic entities—the personifications of harmful energies and negative emotions—into pristine enlightened awareness. In particular, Simhamukha averts psychic attacks and subdues demonic energies that assail Dharma practitioners and the places where they practice. For that reason it is she who is invoked by many practitioners as the unexcelled source of Dharma protection.
